The hidden REF
The Software Sustainability Institute announced this morning the launch of The hidden REF, a competition designed to recognise “all research outputs and every role which makes research possible”.
97% of outputs in the last REF were publications, which often fail to recognise all the people who make research possible. The hidden REF competition will invite submission of other kinds of outputs from July 2020 in an effort to challenge preconceptions about which roles are important in research.
Help is needed – check out how you can get involved, and think about anything you might like to submit in the summer!
Also, check out Code4REF, which describes how to add software research outputs to current research information systems like Pure – a first step towards REF submission.
